How to save Maxis Broadband bandwidth usage
I have already registered the Maxis Broadband RM78 plan (3 GB modem included) for couple of month now. As far as I can say, this plan is good for non-heavy user to just checking their email, browsing web etc. It’s also best solution for those who travelling a lot.
Those who often to watch videos on YouTube and other streaming sites, I advised you should avoid this plan. It’s impossible for you to use 3 GB in a month. Majority of Maxis Broadband users who opt for this limited data transfer plans usually end up exceeding their bandwidth caps.
Most Wireless Broadband in Malaysia has some limit on the amount of bandwidth you can enjoy a month before they start throttling your line. So, don’t get cheated to any Broadband salesman! =D
Here are few tips which will helping you to save your bandwidth while using Maxis Broadband.
1) Disable the function to load images and sound
2) Turn On Pop-Up Blocker
3) Turn off the automatic update settings in Windows.
4) Disable all software that downloads the updates automatically like Antivirus, Windows Media Player, RealOne Player etc.
5) Install free firewall to control over what programs on your computer gain access to the Internet
6) Play youtube video on specific time frame
7) Get a software to monitors your bandwidth usage

don’t get cheated to Maxis broadband salesperson..
Maxis just provided suck and poor broadband service…
MAXIS really SUCKS! They are the BIG SHARKS!
I subsribed the Maxis 1GB iPhone plan (RM100/month). Within 15 days, my phone bill charge is RM800+. I was shocked and went to check with Maxis center. First, they charged me for another RM5 again to print out my itemised bandwidth usage. Then, they showed me the terms in which they shall charge any additional bandwidth usage beyound my subscribed plan. You know what, that term is so small and I’m sure a lot of people are not aware about this. When I talked to my friends, apparently many of them are also kena cons and trapped into this. The problem is that we cannot terminate the contract and move to other ISP due to the plan.
Just recently, my iPhone has some problem. And I went to Maxis service center at KLCC to claim for the maintenance. I have been waiting for 1.5 hour to be able to talk to their customer service officer. Then, the officer said my iPhone cannot be warranty due to some reasons (he told me my phone kena air, but I’m so sure my iPhone was not). He referred my case to his supervisor. You know, I got wait for another 1.5 hour for his supervisor. I bang into his supervisor’s room and apparantely found out that he was talking with some so called “VIP” customer. Whay made me so frustrated was that, he didn’t even apologized to me and told me that Apple will never want to repair my phone. I said to him you may try to talk to Apple. After a big quarelling in front of so many customers (in fact many of the customers side on me as the reason given was so unreasonable). They then just accept my complain. But they said one thing: Maxis is just a reseller for Apple and they are not in the position to provide any value-add services for Apple. After 3 weeks waiting, they finally replaced me with a new iPhone from Apple. Can you what happenned here.
My husband has shifted from Maxis to Celcom. According to him, the bandwidth speed are quite similar. But the coverage is wider. Most importantly, when his internet bandwidth used up more than the monthly allocated bandwidth, Celcom will not charge additional fee. It will only turn the 3G becomes Edged coverage, and speed becomes slower. The usage has the option to top up if you need to. Furthermore, the Celcom’s customer service is so humble and nice. They are trying to help though in certain cases, they cannot be sure if they can help. This is the differnt.
I’m totally dissapointed with Maxis which I have been using for the past 15 years. For those who is considering iPhone and broadband, pls reconsider this important point. I cannot do anything else but have to be very careful in using my bandwidth. That really sucks!
Maxis BB just suck. Suck in everythin, from customer service to quality of their services.. They only know how to suck people’s money. Even they are sending annoyed “RM0 MaxisBB - You have reached your volume quota” notice everyday into my mailbox.
