Port 25 blocked by TMnet

Posted By: zainal on December, 08 2007

TMnet has recently blocking user’s outgoint port 25/tcp traffic. They has limit port 25 access in order to cut down on spam sent through their servers.

This prevents users from sending email using non-streamyx or non-tmnet SMTP servers eg. mail.company.com.my, only smtp.streamyx.com and smtp.tm.net.my will be allowed. Means if you operate or have your own mail server, you must configure your mail server so that it is an open relay.

–seems like a lot of work, don’t you think? but in any case, this is a pretty good thing to prevent spamming. I know how annoying that is.

I remember getting shut down by AOL years ago for sending an e-mail to a large group of friends and family. They were worried I was spamming. So interesting that everyone suffers when a few people choose to be greedy, generating the extra work you’re featuring here; eating up our mailboxes and our time; etc.

E-mail spamming is just not a good way to attract consumers. It actually annoys them in a way.

@Harry Parker, I agree with you when you said that email spamming is really annoying. I have this account in Yahoo but I do not use it much now since I often receive spam mails and it really annoys. I activated the spam filter but its not doing good. What I do with these spam mails is to delete them immediately without even taking a second glance at their subjects.
